About the Research Platform
Geo Treasures Nexus is an interdisciplinary Earth science research and knowledge platform conceptualized and developed by Dr. Dinesh Pancholi, Ph.D. in Geology, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, India. The platform is structured to support academic research, field-based geological investigations, and applied studies in mining geology, environmental geology, and geo-environmental impact assessment.
In relation to the research work entitled “Study of Geo-Environmental Problems due to Lignite Mining and Thermal Power Plant at Panandhro, District Kachchh, Gujarat, India,” Geo Treasures Nexus has been utilized as an academic support framework for documentation, interpretation, and presentation of geological and environmental data. The platform has facilitated the systematic compilation of field observations, geological mapping outputs, stratigraphic interpretations, environmental parameters, and impact indicators associated with lignite mining and thermal power generation activities.
The study addresses geo-environmental issues such as land degradation, alteration of surface and subsurface drainage systems, groundwater regime disturbances, overburden and waste management practices, air and soil quality variations, and post-mining land use challenges. Geo Treasures Nexus has supported these analyses through curated geological records, field photographs, specimen references, thematic maps, and structured datasets, which have been incorporated into research papers, technical illustrations, and presentation materials.
For academic clarity and transparency, selected research outputs related to this study—including figures, maps, field photographs, tables, and supporting documentation—have been presented as separate attachments alongside research papers and PPTs. These attachments, prepared under the Geo Treasures Nexus framework, serve as supplementary academic material to enhance data validation, visual interpretation, and comparative assessment of geo-environmental impacts in the Panandhro lignite mining region.
Overall, Geo Treasures Nexus functions as an academic and documentation platform that integrates field-based geological evidence with geo-environmental analysis, thereby strengthening the scientific interpretation, reproducibility, and academic value of research papers and presentations related to lignite mining and thermal power plant impacts in District Kachchh, Gujarat.
